What you can do?
Send your objections
The application for full planning consent is being decided by the Planning and Development Authority – also known as the Physical Planning Unit (under the Minister of Finance, Planning, Economic Development & Physical Development).
The government is not famous for transparency and appears willing to approve any large development that has anything to do with tourism. The Planning and Development Authority must provide the developer with a decision by 6 May 2022 unless it asks the developer for more information first.
You can contact the Planning and Development Authority with your objections to this development:
physicaldevelopmentgda@gmail.com
for attention of the CEO, and copy it to other relevant government agencies as below:
- Minister of Tourism, Dr Clarice Modeste Curwen: tourism@gov.gd
- Grenada Tourism Authority, CEO Petra Roach: proach@puregrenada.com
- Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association, Arlene Friday – Chief Executive Officer: arlene@ghta.org
- Hon. Nickolas Steele, MP for St. George’s South: nnpsouthsaintgeorge@gmail.com
- Minister of Finance, Planning, Economic Development & Physical Development, Dr Right Hon Keith Mitchell, Minister: finance@gov.gd
- Ministry Of Climate Resilience, The Environment, Forestry, Fisheries & Disaster Management, Hon. Simon Stiell, Minister: pssec@climateresilience.gov.gd
- Please also copy to us at: contact@coralcovegrenada.org
We suggest your objections will carry more weight with government agencies if they emphasise the negative publicity Grenada will get as a tourism destination if this scheme goes ahead destroying the local ecology and natural environment.
For those resident in the greater L’Anse aux Epines area, it would be good to emphasise the adverse effects on the health, safety and welfare of residents including the effects of construction works, noise, dust and heavy construction traffic.
